Hand Therapy
Hand Therapy begins with an extensive evaluation of injured tissue and discussing what interventions will be used to facilitate healing and regain function.
Comprehensive Evaluation identifying the impact of injuries and conditions on function and performance. We develop custom treatment plans based on our findings i.e range of motion, muscle control, joint stability, and sensation. Variety of conditions we see yet not limited to fractures, sprains, lacerations, hypermobility, auto immune, and degenerative conditions.
Modalities are used to aid in tissue healing as the tissue progresses through its healing phases. We use ultrasound, electric stimulation, low level light therapy, paraffin, contrast baths, hot packs and cold packs as prescribed and when necessary.
Therapeutic Exercise and Functional Activity are used to resolve the problems caused by disuse, weakness, and incoordination. We are continuously modifying activity so the patient can use their hands sooner than later without harming the healing tissue.
Splinting / Taping is both custom and prefabricated specific to the condition.
Soft Tissue Mobilization / Myofascial Release is used to release tight joints, glide soft tissue and circulate fluids to optimize muscle and joint function.
Symptom Management Techniques are discussed in the first visit to minimize reinjury and tissue aggravation. The tissue is working 24/7 to get better. We’ll teach you ways to manage the fluctuations in symptoms.
